Cotton batting; cotton thread; glass beads Machine pieced, hand appliquéd, machine quilted, hand beaded First place in its category at the International Quilt Festival in Houston; Third place in the wall quilt category at the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival in Williamsburg. An interesting piece of Dutch wax batik, acquired around the time of the Southeast Asian tsunami disaster, was the inspiration for this quilt. Cutting, piecing, and re-cutting the fabric helped me to interpret the intense energy from the viewpoint inside the wave. Click here for a detail image. |
